Here we go again!

Well, here we go again.  I've had too much time on my hands and so I've been messing around with this here blog!  I don't know how long it will go on because, if you know me...I'm a great started and a horrible finisher.  I must say tho, Blogger seems a lot easier to use...so that's good.

So, what's been going on.

This past Christmas was pretty much par for the course for 2020.  Jim and I didn't get any decorations down, I just used the few that I keep in the house.  We did get a 4 ft. tree from Walmart and I actually really like it because it looks so prim.  I think we've decided to just use that from now on, we're getting too old to lug that big tree out of the attic along with all the boxes of decorations.

We did get to see John, Holly and Zoe on Christmas Eve...so that was nice.  Holly and Zoe had made lots of yummy Christmas cookies and brought us some.  Plus we got gifts...which they weren't suppose to do...but we do appreciate it.

I've started a new hobby...which I serious needed like another hole in my head, but it's so fun.  I've been making junk journals...well, I've made two junk journals.

It all started because I wanted to research my Dad's family.  Dad was 15 years younger than his sister and 17 years younger than his brother...so I think he was kind of an "oops" baby.  His mother died when he was only 12 and his dad when he was 19.  His older brother died at the age of 40...so he lost a lot of his family very early.  But I remember two of his aunts (his dad's sisters) and my Aunt Helen (his sister).  We knew that they had immigrated to Canada from England, then to the US.  It was so fun looking up all the information on the Ancestry and Family Search sites.  So that was my first journal, I'll share some of the pages in a later post.

The second journal was for Kimmie.  I had shown on one of our Zoom calls some small lavender journals I had made and she wondered if they were for her.  No...but I decided to make her a larger one with lots of lavender pages and ephemera.  But then I fell down the ancestry rabbit hole again and started researching Don's side of the family and ended up adding a few pages of that to her journal.  Here's the front cover...she already has it.

Jim and I ordered new living room furniture, our furniture now is grey and I'm so sick of dark stuff or maybe it's just my eyesight going!  Our furniture has also been well used by the puppies, so it was time.  We ordered the furniture in October and were told it would take 19 weeks!!  Another result of Covid!  So we won't see it any time soon.  We had them put all the pet protection on it because it's light and we have dogs and we live in Washington which makes for wet dogs which isn't good for light furniture!!!  But it so comfy!!!  We also will get an area rug, but after the furniture is here so we can pick something that matches.

I got an amazing surprise earlier this month...a big, huge box came to our house, addressed to me...I told Jim I hadn't ordered anything, really, but there it was!!  And in it was this...

OMG...Jimmy and Shannon bought me a new computer!!!!  I couldn't believe it!!  Jimmy and I play World of Warcraft together on Wednesday afternoon and ever since the new expansion for the game came out in November, I get a message that my computer is too out-of-date for the game.  I'm still able to play it tho.  Anyway, Jimmy and I were questing when the big package came...I later learned it was all a set up...he knew it was going to be delivered that day.  It was so unexpected and I was so happy!!  He stayed on the phone and helped me set it up...and guess what...I don't get an out-of-date message anymore.  This thing is AMAZING!!  My computer was really old...10 or more years old.  That's a lot in computer years.  Another thing I love about this computer is that it recognizes my iPhone!!  I don't know if you remember when I was making videos...I couldn't download them to my computer because it just wouldn't recognize the phone.  I couldn't even upload photos to iCloud...no more!!!  Everything works like a dream!!

Speaking of World of Warcraft...here's my latest character...Dredmama.  She's a Kul Tiran warrior, I picked her because her shape reminds me of someone.

So that's about it for now my darlings...so fingers crossed I can keep this up.

I'm going to put a link to this on the Facebook page...ZinterVille...that where the links to videos were.  Could you leave a comment here if you found your way here through Facebook?  I'm not on Facebook much anymore so I may need to link another way to those who are interested in it.  Just say "hi" in the comments here...that's all you need to do.  Thanks!

Hi Mary, I love your post. I got to see the journal you made for my mom on a video call. It was so well done! I'm impressed. The new couches look nice! I hope you get them sooner rather than later. Sweet new computer and WoW character also. It makes me want to play :) Also, I found my way here though facebook so thanks for that.

Love,
Brad
